I’m a sociologist, specialising in the relationship between technology and society. Most of my research has involved the social and ethical assessment of controversial emerging and future technologies (including civil drones, biofuels, CCS, 3D-bioprinting, artificial intelligence and blockchain). I have also developed some theoretical and methodological frameworks to help us to understand technology in society. Some of this work has been published in journal articles, books and reports listed here.
Currently, I work at the European Parliamentary Research Service, delivering bespoke insights to various Committees and Members of the European Parliament, especially the Science and Technology Options Assessment Panel.
I occasionally post on the European Parliamentary Research Service Blog.
